You board at the Rhyfall Mändli landing — a small island one level below Restaurant Schlössli Wörth. The boat sails about 10 minutes to the Middle Rock in the centre of the falls, where you disembark for a roughly 20-minute stay: climb the more than 100 steps to the 30-metre-high viewing platform for a unique 360° view, take photos, then ride back for another close-up angle. Total time is about 30 minutes, though boarding can add time in high season. The online ticket also covers Ferry No. 2 to and from Schloss Laufen, so you can start from either bank.
Restrictions: the operator states the experience is "not recommended for children under 1.2 metres tall" or for people with walking or stair-climbing impairments, and no dogs are allowed. Infants under 6 travel free if they don't occupy a seat. What to bring: a waterproof jacket (you will get misted or wet) and sturdy, non-slip footwear for the wet stone steps. Boats sail rain or shine.
Booking: buy online the night before for a morning slot to skip the queue — the tour is dated and time-specific, and can sell out on peak summer days. The Neuhausen boat tour below is the area's most-reviewed bookable water activity and a great way to lock in a boat ride before you arrive.
